Slavoj Zizek

The you in cyberspace
Its hard to respond to something like this. at first you see yourself in the reflection. is it you or just a virtual replicate. the form using the computer is an physical person but when it comes to creating a web-identification its a totally unique identity, non of it is real but it is. the person creating the info knows what their doing and ways that it may interact with others.

The information posted on the web would be considered a decaffeinated version of who the person is. the physicality might not exist but there may be more than it seems. the law basically respond to suicide notes and in that case a note online may be considered to be real.

My Final Project

At first, i had no clue on what to do next. soon i got the idea to use Amazon Mechanical turk to soliciting individuals asking them for information regarding technology. each person was paid 15 cents after completing the assignment.

I would like for 20 people to write me a 1-2 paragraph paper telling and explaining to me the reason for thanksgiving and do they believe technological advancement has changed the meaning of thanksgiving. also i asked them to upload their favorite piece of technology.

with this add out there, i received responses within a few hour. many of them were interesting, especially those who believe they are closer to their love one because of technology.

after that i then went on to creating another add asking 20 individual to upload images of their favorite technology dating between 1980 and 2010. many of those were things i never see or even heard of. some of them were strange, images of iggy pop and a church sign were a few of those images added.

My Internet experience

The Internet

As I became familiar with the Internet information became more valuable and were passed on at a rapid rate.

In the past decade the Internet has become my greatest friend. My first experience with this tool was back in 2000 after creating an Aol account with the screen name bigpaulart@aol.com. It was a great accomplishment not knowing my next step to using the tool. As maturity kicked in chat rooms and online gaming were a fascinating factor of all the cool stuff large corporations had online. I noticed myself sending emails and talking to people in other parts of the city and soon states. Not using the recently produces email account a new one was created based on the church I attend, Maranatha062003@yahoo.com; it was lame to used the church’s name I had nothing to do with who I was. It was created based on impulse and memory. As my friendship of the Internet grew my addiction to it became richer for the facts that there were many crazy images and funny videos to look up. It became a place where I felt safe and a good laugh was produced from seeing the worst things. A great website that myself and friends occasionally visited are www.rotten.com as well as ebaumsworld.com, there friend and I would look at the worst images of rotten corpses and mutilated mammals of all kind. Our minds were in the gutter once a day. The internet grew on me to an extent, soon I had another email address, the first two were no longer used as much as I thought and also did not represent who I was so smithpaulanthony2@yahoo.com was made to be the official email address. The Internet became even popular than I thought and my addiction was worse than a cancer patient smoking. Anything I wanted google could answer it and so I wanted a more official domain and google has answered my call by hosting smithpaulanthony2@gmail.com. Now my online communication has broadened to other countries.

Why go to school?

In the age of free information society competes with others to find people with the highest ranking. i question myself, do i need a document stating my completion of a BFA in studio Ceramics or can society accept me without. the info is free, youtube has tons of DIY videos, why not take advantage of them. many people believe that education is necessary, but it wont help to keep ourselves out of debt.

the other reason why we all get an education is to prove it to the other showing the qualifications of completing a course that move us up to the next level. its like video Games, in them there are many obstacle courses and levels to complete before becoming champion.

I hate going to school, but thats all i have.

WATCH VIDEO BELOW, I THINK OF THIS ALWAYS
